Professor für digitale Medien am Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) und Autor. Ph. D. in Computer- und Informationswissenschaft an der University of Pennsylvania, Master in kreativem Schreiben (Poesie) an der Boston University, Master in Medienkunst und -wissenschaften am Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) und Bachelor-Abschluss in Geisteswissenschaften und Informatik an der University of Texas in Austin. Leiter des Projekts The Trope Tank, das sich der Entwicklung neuer poetischer Formen und neuem Verständnis digitaler Medien widmet.
